The DEVIL Rays came to town, wearing green and grey vests and much fun ensued. It was late in the season and the team formerly known as the worst in the league was showing signs of what was to come. Much of that came in the form of Scott Kazmir, who out pitched Curt Schilling to win the first game of the series 1-0. As the score suggests, there wasn't a lot of action, other than pitching dominance. The highlight was the appearance of Clay Buchholz in the bullpen band and Julian Tavarez' refusal to participate, topped off by the always outstanding band play-by-play of Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo. Thanks to NESN for the clip.

Fenway Flashback: Yo-Yo
September 4th, 2007

People ask me, "Now that baseball's over, what do you do with your time?" Of course, I've been watching baseball. I don't know if I could handle the cold, depressing weather without baseball! During last off-season I re-watched my way through to September of 2007. Good times back then. Although, I've been happy with the changes that Theo has made in the last year, there are things I miss like Julian Tavarez being his wacky self.

It's The End of An Era
The Red Sox have designated Julian Tavarez for assignment. It looks like they are trying to trade him to the Rockies. Either way, it's the end of an era. As much as he drove me nuts, I'm really gonna miss the crazy fellow! For old times sake, here's Manny petting Julian...

Whose line is it, anyway?
| IP | H | R | ER | BB | SO | HR |
| 2.2 | 2 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
Can you guess whose line that is? Oki? MannyD? Nope!! It belongs to this nutcase:
And his partner in crime hit a game winning homerun, they are definitely my collective player of the game...
The come-from-behind 9th inning was phenomenal. It had it all -- great base running, bunting, Ortiz hitting!!!, and Manny's homerun. I couldn't pick a clip of the day so here's the whole half inning (up until the pitching change)...
And Manny actually spoke to the press about it. Well, "spoke to the press about it" might be an exaggeration. But he did stand in front of the mic looking just slightly less annoyed than Josh Beckett. His answers are, of course, unintentionally hilarious.

Chase Field
I hate interleague play. I don't get why they do it and I despise the NL's lack of a DH. However, I was very interested to see Julian Tavarez bat. And the man did not disappoint. As entertaining as ever, this is Tavarez batting against the D-Backs...
