Papi Police

Papi got to ride sidecar in the police escort in DC. Francona and Snyder also took a turn. I can't imagine Snyder's long legs squished up in there...

Sox Rock The White House

NECN.com is my new favorite website! Yesterday, they had that nice Beckett interview and today they have video of the Sox visiting the White House. Here's a Bush speech that I actually enjoyed... and look! There's Cheney! And he's not propped up...

Centerfield has full red carpet coverage. Gotta love ballplayers in suits ;) The Boston Globe has a photo gallery of the suits...

I Heart Prince Fielder

That 6-foot, 260-pound build is powered by wheatgrass, soy and tofu nowadays. No meat. Not even fish. Disgusted by a factory farming, the Brewer's first baseman has sworn off meat. Since starting his new diet, he claims to have more energy and feels "cleaner". I think that means his digestive system has started working ;) Prince Fielder is my baseball boyfriend of the day!

Fenway Flashback: Trade Day

July 31, 2007

Yup, it was the trade deadline and Kason Gabbard said goodbye and the Sox welcomed Eric Gagne. Look how excited everyone was:

It was not a good game for Josh Beckett. He gave up a homerun on the first pitch of the game. Not a good sign-- he did improve thereafter, but had a tough 3rd inning, and beat up a cooler afterwards. He can be a little scary:

The highlight of the game, for me, was Tek throwing out a runner at third for a third out. Those Orioles were running on him constantly, but he got them in the end:

Spring Training Highlights

Varitek ordered a World Series ring for his TOE! And Paps tried to speak Spanish. Geez! I thought I was bad at languages --

Meanwhile, the geniuses at necn.com interviewed Beckett while playing catch. Definitely the most relaxed and pleasant interview ever! Collins asked the tough questions that we all want to ask, like why do you talk with your glove over your mouth and why so many necklaces. He even threw the ball high to try for another belly siting..;)
And finally, have you seen Coco's fro? I haven't been able to find a picture of him without a hat on, but I did manage this screen grab. It's VERY impressive!
The first game is tomorrow! I only wish mlb.tv were covering more of the games, but it'll give me more time to catch up on my Fenway Flashbacks. Got a great one of Beckett beating the crap out of a water cooler for later today. He's a little scary...

Oscar Night Highlights

The Oscars were boring as hell, except for a couple clever remarks from Jon Stewart. The real highlight of the night, came after on Jimmy Kimmel. Warning: very adult language...

In case you missed the original video by Sarah Silverman:

Picture Day

boston.com has an outstanding photo gallery of outtakes from picture day.and the boston herald has even more pictures! My favorite? Look -- JD Drew is funny! Who knew?

Fenway Flashback: (Flower) Power Papi

July 28th, 2007
Tropicana Field

It was Flower Power night at Tropicana Field. I can't imagine having to do stunts like this to get people to a ballgame... nonetheless, it did provide a few laughs. The players' scoreboard pictures were hippied out. Manny's was the funniest:

It was a nightmare of a game --complete with extra innings, a blown save, and walked in runs, and FIVE hours in length. The Rays came from behind in the 9th with a homerun against Paps to tie the game. It took 3 more innings for the Rays bullpen to fall apart (which is always does) and the Sox finally took the win. Lester did pitch pretty well, but the highlight, by far, was Papi's broken bat check swing. Laughs!
